Free funnel trace
Does your funnel keep the lead?
Enter a landing page. I follow the steps a visitor takes, from the first click to the form, and show where tracking breaks along the way. Free, and no email needed.
Free. No email needed. I never submit a form. I save the page address you trace and its results. See the privacy policy.
Scaile built this trace because a campaign rarely fails on the landing page. It fails one or two clicks later, where nobody looked. The ad is tagged, the landing page is measured, and then the button sends the visitor to a booking tool or a sign-up page where the tracking stops. The trace walks that path the way a visitor does and checks each step.
What the trace does
- Opens your landing page with test campaign tags (UTMs) and checks that a redirect doesn't strip them.
- Finds the main button, the one a visitor is meant to click, and follows it exactly as it is written on your page.
- Repeats for up to four steps, and stops at the first form or booking tool. It never submits anything.
- Checks every step for the same analytics and ad tags as the first, for a move to a different domain, for a form that saves the traffic source, and for the basics of a sound page: a title, a headline, a mobile setting, and how fast the server answers.
- Counts the ways out. Every link that isn't the next step is a way to leave the funnel.
If it follows the wrong button
The trace picks the button that looks most like the next step. When a page has several, it can guess wrong. Under each step you'll see the other buttons it found. Click one and the trace runs again down that path.
What it can't see
The trace reads page source from outside. It doesn't run your scripts, so a button or form that a script builds is invisible to it, and it says so instead of calling it missing. It stops before the form is sent, so it can't see the thank-you page, the conversion event, or the record that lands in your CRM.
That last stretch is where the money is: form to CRM to revenue. Tracing it takes access and a conversation. It's the work I do as a fractional CMO, and it's what the free call is for.
Trace a page, or scan the whole site
This tool follows one path from one page. For a wider read of a whole website, including email setup and whether search engines and AI assistants can read it, run the free attribution scan. To talk through either result, book a call.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as a landing page?
Any page you send traffic to: the page an ad points at, a page linked from an email, or your homepage. Paste its full address, including the path.
Does the trace fill in or submit my forms?
No. It reads each page and stops at the first form or booking tool. No lead is created and nothing is sent to your CRM.
Why does my campaign get lost between steps?
The usual causes are a step with no analytics tag, a step on a different domain with no cross-domain tracking, a redirect that strips the tags, or a form with nowhere to save the source. The trace checks for each of these.
Why did it stop after one step?
It stops when it reaches a form or a booking tool, or when it can't find a button in the page source. If your button is built by a script, the trace can't see it and will say so.
Can I trace a competitor's funnel?
Yes. It reads only public pages. After a trace, use "Copy link to this report" to share the result.
